Technical aspects of refinishing are described in detail on the METACOL Finishes section of this website. ARS specializes in restoring high-end pre-ban AK-type rifles, such as the Yugoslav, Hungarian, Galil, and Valmet

Common Upgrades

The most common requests are for changing the gas blocks and/or front sights to accept bayonets and original muzzle brakes. Assuming you can locate the parts, ARS can do the installation. ARS can also install an adaptor on most non-threaded barrels to accept the 24mm AK-74 brake or thread your barrel for the M14x1 LH slant brake, if your barrel is 14mm or larger.

Complete Builds

ARS will only do AK builds under certain conditions. ARS will not "make" incompatible parts fit, such as Bulgarian sight block on Romanian barrel and will only accept quality receivers such as NPODAK SPUD, and Arsenal. No Hesse, CAI, Joeken, Eubanks, or home-folded flats. ARS only offers complete builds with refinish. There are too many variables for exact prices, but they range from $450 for a Romanian G on NDS, to $700 for request.
