Inch Pattern FALs
ARS built Australian L2A1 heavy barrel replica on IMBEL inch-cut type III receiver and METACOL III Satin Black finish. IWD light walnut furniture. Bipod legs have original Australian coachwood red-tinted slats. Australion coachwood has a unique odor from soaking in creosote.
Detail view of the L2A1 rear sight assembly.
ARS built Australian L1A1 replica on IMBEL Type III receiver. FSE fake inch flash suppressor, IWD walnut furniture set with early style handguards, and METACOL III Satin Black finish over phosphate base make for a close replica of the post-1968 Australian "SLR".
ARS built British style L1A1 with plastic pebble-grain furniture (Maranyl). SUIT (Sight Unit Infantry Trilux) sight with tritium reticle replaced with light-emitting diode. METACOL III Satin Black and early ARS prototype fake flash suppressor.
Israeli FALs
ARS built Israeli heavy barrel FAL (FALO) on an IMBEL Type III receiver and METACOL IV manganese phosphate finish.
ARS built Israeli FALO on a pre-89 SBL import Israeli manufactured Type I receiver.
ARS built Israel standard barrel FAL. Early model Israel rifles had a flash hider built in to the bayonet, which is why the barrel on this rifle has no muzzle device.
ARS built Israeli short-barreled FALO.
Detail view of Israeli markings on an SBL import Israeli Type I receiver.
Another Israeli manufactured FAL receiver.
Metric FALs
ARS Replica of the Belgium-made German Contract G1 FAL. Germany adopted the FAL in 1957 with the designation "Gewehr 1" and ordered 100,000. These rifles were 100% FN produced in 1957 and 1958 with the German firm Heckler & Koch manufacturing select replacement parts. The rifle is a modification of the FAL Canada rifle, with some of the new features becoming FN standard for all subsequent rifles. In particular is a 3mm lower sight height, "closed ear" front sight protectors, sight adjustment in meters instead of yards, an integral bipod with metal handguards, a slim profile carry handle, an improved three-piece extractor assembly, and a firing pin with improved contours. This ARS replica incorporates all of the original features and markings on an FN licensed IMBEL receiver beautifully machined to "Type I" configuration with all correct internal and external lightening cuts. IWD standard walnut stock set, VOW fake flash suppressor, METACOL IV phosphate coating. The rifle is clearly marked "ARS PHX AZ, CAI - IMBEL, REPLICA" in front of the magazine well to avoid having it mistaken for a genuine FN product.
ARS built Metric FAL with the North American T48 handguards and a short "Bush" barrel with US made copy of the Belgium long flash suppresor.
ARS built IMBEL Type III receiver with Ironwood Designs wood furniture and a short "Bush" barrel with US made copy of the Belgium long flash suppresor.
ARS built IMBEL Type III "Bush" rifle with Austrian StG-58 short flash suppressor.
ARS remachined and engraved this IMBEL Type II into a German G1 replica.
ARS built typical Austrian StG-58 replica in METACOL IV manganese phosphate. Austria adopted the FAL in 1958 with the designation "Sturmgewehr 58" and ordered an initial quantity of 20,000. The Austrian firm Steyr-Daimler-Puch began licensed manufacture of select components and eventually manufactured the entire rifle. The earliest models utilized a wood stock with wood pistol grip, metal handguards, and an integral bipod. Austria transitioned to a wood stock with rubber recoil pad and plastic pistol grip, and then to a plastic stock with a unique straight comb. The head of the original purchasing commission was a Major Stoll, who designed a unique muzzle device combining features of a wire cutter, flash suppressor, and grenade launcher.
ARS built IMBEL Type III in METACOL III Satin black with the DSA "elite" 13" short front end and permanently attached flash suppressor (16" overall barrel length).
ARS built DSA Type I receiver in METACOL III Satin black with the DSA "elite" 13" short front end and permanently attached flash suppressor (16" overall barrel length).
ARS built replica of Austrian StG-58 rifle. This ARS replica incorporates all of the original features and markings on an FN licensed IMBEL receiver beautifully machined to "Type I" configuration with all correct internal and external lightening cuts. IWD walnut furniture and FSE Fake StG-58 flash suppressor. The rifle is clearly marked "ARS PHX AZ, CAI - IMBEL, REPLICA" in front of the magazine well to avoid having it mistaken for a genuine FN or Steyr product.
Paratrooper Models
ARS built paratrooper model in METACOL III Afrikan Desert Camouflage.
ARS built green paratroop model showing Steyr import Type III pre-ban Belgium receiver, DSA inch pattern selector, FSE extended magazine catch and FSE folding cocking handle.
ARS built standard IMBEL Paratrooper model.
ARS built nother IMBEL Brazilain paratrooper model.
An ARS experimental paratrooper model on a post-1986 dealer sample machinegun receiver with a 7" barrel. Shown next to an MP5 for comparison. While the gun functioned fine, we experienced bent gas pistons. The DSA "elite" front end assembly can function as short as 11.5" and the benefit of using off-the-shelf componants is greater in our opinion than 4" shorter barrel length.
ARS rebuilt pre-1989 IMBEL Type III with the 11.5" DSA elite front end and the M249 paratrooper stock. The M249 Minimi squad automatic Weapon (SAW) has the same stock as the FAL, except for a flip--up wire shoulder rest.
California FALs
This model complies with current CA DOJ interpretation of SB23 and Roberti-Roos. As the pictured model has no detachable magazine, it is not a "California assault weapon." The pictured model is an Israeli standard barrel rifle incorporating a DSA 10 round magazine that ARS converts to "non-detachable" however it may be disassembled with tools for cleaning. Loading is manually or with 5 or 10 round stripper-clips utilizing a DSA reproduction of the Canadian/T-48 stripper-clip dustcover or the Leapers (TAPCO) stripper clip scope mount. ARS can undo these modifications if you subsequently move to Free-America.
Another California FAL with a red dot sight on the stripper-clip top cover.
Miscellaneous
ARS built sniper model made with Birdman's "Weapon Art" PSG-1 style stock and HINES PSG-1 style pistol grip from Dan at VOW. Barrel is custom made to use AR-15 style free-float handguards by Phil Arrington of Arrington Accuracy Works.
ARS built target model with DSA medium contour stainless barrel and carbon-fiber free-float handguards (out of production). DSA scope mount top cover and Burris 4x14 tactical scope. Turner saddlery sling.
Receiver stubs from some early ARS FAL builds.
