The Austrian firm Steyr-Daimler-Puch began licensed manufacture of select components and eventually manufactured the entire rifle. The earliest models utilized a wood stock with wood pistol grip, metal handguards, and an integral bipod. Austria transitioned to a wood stock with rubber recoil pad and plastic pistol grip, and then to a plastic stock with a unique straight comb.|
